[1 - 1] all right lisa you ready for this one
[2 - 3] whoa that thing's huge look at this
[6 - 8] thing as a beast this is a beast
[8 - 9] as a beast this is a beast i don't think that would fit in my
[10 - 13] kitchen
[16 - 16] these are air fryers large countertop
[16 - 18] appliances with a bold promise perfectly
[18 - 20] fried food using very little oil now
[20 - 22] we're not shy about frying in the test
[22 - 25] kitchen but it takes cups or even quarts
[25 - 26] of oil so if we could find something
[26 - 29] that did it with less oil faster and
[29 - 31] with less mess we'd be interested so do
[31 - 33] these things actually work to find out
[33 - 36] we tested nine priced from 60
[36 - 38] all the way up to 250 and to find our
[38 - 40] winner we rated them on three main
[42 - 44] categories cooking ease of use and clean up so
[44 - 46] cooking ease of use and clean up so here's what we found out
[48 - 49] [Music] so one thing i really like about these
[49 - 51] so one thing i really like about these is that you don't have to preheat them
[51 - 52] before you can start cooking you just
[52 - 54] put the food in turn it on and you're in
[54 - 56] business so definitely that shaves off
[56 - 57] what like 10 to 15 minutes sometimes
[58 - 60] yeah also like these are basically small
[60 - 62] countertop convection ovens so you don't
[62 - 63] have to turn your big oven on if it's a
[63 - 65] hot day you don't want to heat up your
[65 - 66] whole house these give off much less
[66 - 70] heat okay so i'm putting my fries in
[70 - 72] nice good sized basket
[72 - 74] we got some brussels sprouts
[74 - 76] those look nice
[76 - 78] ooh crispy i like them crispy yeah you
[78 - 80] can even hear how crispy they are
[80 - 82] they're hot but not crazy
[82 - 84] they're good really good
[84 - 86] oh my god i double dipped
[87 - 90] whoa those look really good
[90 - 92] those look really good wow they're like potato chips they're
[92 - 94] really crispy they're delicious this has
[94 - 96] like a little wand in here that rotates
[96 - 98] pushes around they're off the heating
[98 - 99] element because they're standing up and
[99 - 101] they're rolling over and there's nothing
[101 - 102] over there there's one fry on that side
[102 - 104] look at them getting broken in half look
[104 - 106] at that yeah those are really sad i
[106 - 109] don't like it it doesn't smell good
[109 - 110] oh
[110 - 112] burning plastic burning hair i don't
[112 - 114] know how you describe that god you can
[114 - 118] smell it on the food can you taste it
[118 - 119] i would eat a french fry off the ground
[120 - 121] i have very low standards i would not i
[121 - 123] would not eat these we were kind of
[123 - 124] hoping it wasn't going to come out the
[124 - 126] food but you can totally taste it
[127 - 128] unfortunately [Music]
[128 - 130] [Music] all right so we were really surprised
[130 - 132] these things all cooked really well
[132 - 134] except for one of them oh yeah there was
[134 - 136] that one that really reached and we
[136 - 137] think it was going to go away the
[137 - 139] manufacturer said it would go away after
[139 - 140] one or two times it was still there
[140 - 143] after nine rounds of testing aside from
[143 - 144] that one these things are actually
[144 - 145] pretty awesome they're not gonna make
[146 - 148] deep fried food but they make really
[148 - 149] great food that's comparable to oven
[149 - 151] fried food so here's where we stand
[151 - 153] after round one
[160 - 162] [Music] oh my god look at all this stuff in here
[162 - 164] oh my god look at all this stuff in here we're gonna play bingo later this thing
[164 - 166] which is like game of thrones more is
[166 - 169] not always better points for simplicity
[169 - 171] sky could have had an r2d2 vibe to it
[171 - 172] totally oh look at the way the whole
[172 - 176] thing chips that's not cool oh god good
[176 - 178] drawer drawer style design yeah nothing
[178 - 180] scary coming at us look out it's one of
[180 - 181] these open top
[181 - 183] that doesn't pop all the way up this
[183 - 185] tastes like right there wow that's hot
[185 - 187] seems like a thousand pictures oh god
[187 - 189] just a drumstick okay well i've turned
[189 - 190] it into
[190 - 192] chicken or turkey we don't we don't know
[192 - 194] it's not very intuitive at all it's nice
[194 - 195] and wide
[195 - 197] easy to dump food in yeah we'll see
[197 - 199] there you go very pretty strippy yeah
[199 - 202] basic cool yeah not eating it so this
[202 - 203] was the round that really separated the
[203 - 206] winners from the losers ease of use yep
[206 - 208] three things mattered we liked drawers
[208 - 211] over flip top models we preferred simple
[211 - 213] digital controls and smaller footprints
[213 - 214] this one from philips right here
[214 - 216] actually got a perfect score in this
[216 - 217] round let's check out the standings for
[218 - 218] ease of
[225 - 227] [Music] talk use no mess there's like nothing
[227 - 230] talk use no mess there's like nothing going on in there a couple little crumbs
[230 - 232] it's nice that it's non-stick i love
[232 - 233] that you can get in the corners it comes
[234 - 235] right out
[235 - 236] oh look it
[236 - 239] it's shredding the sponge
[239 - 240] this one's not bad pretty sturdy
[242 - 243] non-stick pretty basic
[243 - 245] pretty basic that paddle doesn't come out right it's
[245 - 247] bolted in so i have to like chase that
[247 - 249] around and clean under it
[249 - 252] simpler is better sturdy is best
[252 - 254] non-stick is key yep
[254 - 256] so we realized if these things are hard
[256 - 258] to clean you're never going to use them
[258 - 260] we looked for simple sturdy non-stick
[260 - 262] parts in and out you're done some of
[262 - 264] these had like up to 11 pieces they're
[264 - 266] real fussy they were pain in the neck so
[266 - 268] those were not good all right so that
[268 - 270] was round three clean up can we tell
[270 - 272] them where the winner is yes
[272 - 274] drum roll please
[274 - 277] is the phillips digital air fryer it's
[277 - 279] got everything we were looking for it
[279 - 280] has the drawer style
[280 - 283] it has the controls that are very simple
[283 - 285] and intuitive and effortless to use and
[285 - 287] it had a really nice small compact
[287 - 290] footprint just 14 inches it prices out
[290 - 292] around 250 dollars if that's not in your
[292 - 294] budget we also like a cheaper model the
[294 - 296] go wise over there it's 75 bucks it's a
[296 - 298] little bigger the controls weren't quite
[298 - 300] as intuitive but it also made great food
[300 - 302] and had that nice drawer style design
[302 - 303] that we really liked for the full
[303 - 304] results if you want to check out all the
[304 - 306] info and all the models we put a link to
[306 - 308] our review below we also put a link to
[308 - 310] our cookbook because after testing we
[310 - 311] liked these things so much we went and
[311 - 313] wrote a whole cookbook about them so for
[313 - 315] airfryer recipes check out that link
[315 - 318] below
