[10 - 10] smoked food is delicious but the idea of
[10 - 12] smoking food at home can be daunting
[12 - 14] stand-alone smokers are expensive
[14 - 16] they're big and you have to use them
[16 - 18] outside also smoking food properly takes
[18 - 19] a long time
[19 - 22] portable smoke confuses promise to solve
[22 - 24] a lot of those problems they're small
[24 - 26] they're comparatively inexpensive they
[26 - 28] can be used indoors and they quickly
[28 - 30] work to deliver a finishing hit of smoke
[30 - 32] to your food and drink to find the best
[32 - 34] model we tested five price from twenty
[34 - 35] bucks all the way up to one hundred and
[35 - 37] fifty dollars we ready to them on three
[37 - 41] things stability ease of use and cleanup let's
[41 - 42] stability ease of use and cleanup let's take a look at the highlights from our
[43 - 47] testing [Music]
[47 - 49] [Music] okay so this is the Breville poly
[49 - 51] science um we're gonna smoke some
[51 - 54] popcorn here we go now we're smoking Wow
[54 - 56] already oh wow look at that so this I
[56 - 57] mean I feel like I could do this by
[57 - 60] myself this is not a 2% off with the
[60 - 62] automatic as you move the bag nothing
[62 - 64] this is staying put this is not tipping
[64 - 67] this is not in danger it's kind of
[67 - 69] spectacular looking yeah these are great
[69 - 71] for presentation that is for sure
[71 - 77] yeah mmm really nice flavor that is
[77 - 79] delicious a little awkward I want to
[79 - 81] knock this over but yeah it doesn't feel
[81 - 86] quite as stable well I'm finding one
[86 - 87] thing about this one that I'm not so
[87 - 89] happy about it's very light and this
[89 - 92] base is very it's got a little bit of a
[92 - 94] flare out but it's very light and I feel
[94 - 96] like you know you could whack it and
[96 - 98] knock this thing over and start a little
[98 - 100] fire I was holding the device while you
[100 - 102] were moving the popcorn around but I
[102 - 103] think if you're by yourself you only
[103 - 105] really careful with something that's
[105 - 109] lightweight like this yeah oh my god
[109 - 112] wow you like a campfire now I will
[112 - 114] worried that if you flip that bag up
[114 - 116] this is gonna flip these chips right out
[116 - 120] with the fire thing so not quite as
[120 - 121] stable and doesn't have the reach like I
[121 - 123] can't get to the bottom of the bag wait
[123 - 125] and tubing link were the two main
[125 - 127] factors and weather a portable smoker
[127 - 129] was stable or not yeah we preferred
[129 - 131] products with heavier weight so they
[131 - 132] stayed stable and longer tubing that
[132 - 134] didn't have an issue reaching its target
[134 - 135] all right let's go into our next round
[135 - 137] ease of use
[137 - 141] [Music]
[143 - 143] all right so we are gonna smoke an
[143 - 145] old-fashioned tear the ACK old fashioned
[145 - 147] from our new book how to cocktail one of
[147 - 149] the differences I see here is as this
[149 - 151] has the toggle switch instead of that
[151 - 153] nice dial on the professional one the
[153 - 155] dial is a little more helpful in just
[155 - 156] engaging what you want to be doing but
[156 - 159] I'm finding this it's still coming out
[159 - 162] smoke in the glass cover with plastic
[162 - 167] wrap it all nice and smoked in there so
[167 - 169] what we want to do here is take off the
[169 - 170] plastic pour in the drink and garnish it
[170 - 181] pretty quickly Wow hey gorgeous so I
[181 - 186] think so yeah really nice you get that
[186 - 189] smoke coming up first and then the drink
[189 - 191] and it just kind of melds oh really
[191 - 192] really beautiful
[193 - 194] we like mixologists or something yeah oh
[194 - 197] yeah all right so we have the Gramercy
[197 - 199] kitchen here which Lisa thinks it looks
[199 - 203] like a rat I think it looks like a babe
[203 - 206] this i like how short this is I guess
[206 - 208] I'm trying to get it in here and I'm
[208 - 210] moving I have to pick it up on me like I
[210 - 211] don't hold it for you
[211 - 219] sounds a little rattling a little rock
[222 - 222] it's nice and long it's really ripping
[222 - 225] with the smoke yeah Wow yeah the fire
[225 - 227] thing we're running in here yeah it's
[227 - 232] really whoa that worked fast yeah the UM
[232 - 236] this one when it's on high it rips it's
[236 - 238] like yeah I don't have as much control
[238 - 242] over it garnish me there we go beautiful
[242 - 246] Wow okay that's beautiful that is
[246 - 248] gorgeous all right so we have a gorgeous plate of
[248 - 250] all right so we have a gorgeous plate of seafood here we have some sushi grade
[250 - 253] salmon and some raw oysters and we are
[253 - 255] gonna smoke these this is so much easier
[255 - 258] to light because that hopper is wide and
[258 - 259] you can really get in there and the air
[259 - 262] is has access to it it's not just trying
[262 - 264] to get into a little tiny hopper the
[264 - 267] dial is on max I can turn it down which
[267 - 269] is really nice we have total control I
[269 - 271] can really direct this all around
[271 - 274] without moving that I can turn it up
[274 - 280] again oh my this is just amazing
[280 - 284] beautiful look at that Wow my goodness
[284 - 285] alright we're gonna try some of these
[285 - 287] definitely we need some help
[287 - 289] yeah Joe we're gonna have Joe come and
[289 - 292] join us what are you doing
[292 - 297] smoked oysters yeah like the real fresh
[297 - 299] grinders for the oyster but then like
[299 - 300] the smoke just comes in and like but
[300 - 302] it's mild and gentle it doesn't think
[302 - 304] level well man oh I love it
[304 - 306] all right it's smoking definitely
[306 - 308] smoking can we go a little closer yeah
[308 - 310] with the travel ooh yeah like a devil's
[310 - 314] partner and oh boy kind of roaring
[314 - 316] through these chips too yep we're almost
[316 - 318] done with the second set of chips though
[318 - 320] in terms of ease of use there was a
[320 - 321] clear distinction between the winners
[321 - 322] and the losers
[322 - 324] we preferred smokers with fans that gave
[324 - 327] us more control and longer tubing so
[327 - 328] let's move on to our key final round
[328 - 333] clean up
[336 - 336] all right so we are going to talk about
[336 - 338] cleaning now and one thing we learned
[338 - 340] throughout the course of testing these
[340 - 341] two models over here they don't have
[341 - 344] removable smoking baskets like these
[344 - 346] guys I'll do which is a real bummer
[346 - 349] because the smoke residue builds up in
[349 - 351] the basket and over time it can start to
[352 - 353] make the food taste acrid so that's
[353 - 355] really not great we're just going to
[355 - 356] disqualify them for now you don't want
[356 - 358] it to be like a seven uses and then it's
[358 - 362] totally useless so these three all have
[362 - 363] removable baskets all right so we've got
[363 - 366] the Breville smoking gun here here is
[366 - 369] the smoking chamber pops right out top
[369 - 372] it right out there it's got a little
[372 - 374] screen in there you can see where the
[374 - 376] fan pulls the smoke through and you can
[376 - 377] watch this whole thing with soapy water
[377 - 380] right in the sink then you dry it off so
[380 - 382] that was super easy cuz you can clean it
[382 - 383] like that and won't have that acrid
[383 - 386] build-up try this guy same with this one
[386 - 389] this is the Breville polly science pro
[389 - 392] it's got the same hopper that comes out
[392 - 394] same ability to get it nice and clean
[394 - 397] and get rid of all of that residue and
[397 - 401] wash that separately and it is good to
[401 - 404] go super easy so far I want that guy
[404 - 406] okay this is the ho Mia my it has a
[406 - 408] little cup it doesn't have the screen
[408 - 410] and stuff is kind of dropped down into
[410 - 413] the chamber but I think I can get it out
[413 - 415] and I think you could rinse that out
[415 - 417] it's not quite as easy to clean it's
[417 - 422] nice this comes out okay so sounds like
[422 - 428] a a be having a removable smoke chamber
[428 - 429] it was vitally important for these
[429 - 431] little smoke infuse errs if we couldn't
[431 - 433] remove that chamber and clean it the
[433 - 435] product could eventually become useless
[435 - 437] we ultimately found a smokin future that
[437 - 440] stood above the rest Lisa the Breville
[440 - 443] Polly Science Smoking Gun pro was our
[443 - 445] favorite priced at about $150 so it's
[445 - 448] not cheap but it was the easiest to use
[448 - 450] the most stable and it gave us the most
[450 - 452] control over the smoke for great smoke
[452 - 454] flavor the Breville smoking gum was our
[454 - 456] runner-up and Best Buy at about half the
[456 - 458] price it was a little lighter so it was
[458 - 459] a little less stable on the countertop
[459 - 461] and it gave a slightly less smoke
[461 - 462] control but it smoked food just as
[462 - 464] well as our winner for more information
[464 - 466] on our winner and all the other portable
[466 - 467] smoke infusers we tested check out the
