[0 - 2] - Hi, this is Lisa from America's Test Kitchen Gear Heads.
[2 - 5] And I'm here to answer some of your really good questions
[5 - 7] on outdoor entertaining gadgets.
[7 - 9] Okay, our first question is, "How do we find
[9 - 12] a commercial composting facility, or access it?"
[12 - 15] You know, every town is different.
[15 - 17] Where I live, they actually, thank goodness, pick it up
[17 - 19] at the curb with the garbage, and you know,
[19 - 21] take it to a composting facility.
[21 - 23] Other places, you have to hire a private company
[23 - 25] to come pick it up.
[25 - 26] Just, you know, go online.
[26 - 29] Look at your city or town, and see what they have.
[29 - 31] And you know, if you ask them, sometimes people
[31 - 33] have to advocate for what they want,
[33 - 35] and if enough people ask, they will do it.
[35 - 37] So, you know, more power, go for it.
[37 - 39] And that question was in response to us saying
[39 - 42] that some of the compostable plates and cutlery
[42 - 47] were only compostable in a commercial composting facility.
[48 - 50] Yeah, when you call and you ask for those things,
[50 - 52] you know, specifically mention those products
[52 - 55] because it's different from composting
[55 - 56] peels and skins of fruit.
[56 - 58] It is a separate process,
[58 - 60] and some of them can handle it, and some can't.
[60 - 62] But again, when you call
[62 - 64] and you ask the questions, and you...
[64 - 65] You know, we always say,
[65 - 67] "If you have a problem with the product,
[67 - 69] call the customer service for that company."
[69 - 72] Unless they have a log of issues and problems that people
[72 - 74] are coming up with, they don't think there's a problem.
[74 - 75] Same with cities.
[75 - 76] They don't know that you want that,
[76 - 79] unless you call and you say, "I'd like this."
[79 - 81] And if enough people do it, and you vote with your feet,
[81 - 84] your phone and everything, you're gonna make a difference.
[84 - 87] And they mad add that to what they're doing.
[87 - 88] So good luck.
[88 - 89] Someone asked, "Should we be expecting
[90 - 93] a portable gas grill Gear Heads video?"
[93 - 94] We showed you the winner already.
[94 - 96] So yeah, no. Probably not.
[96 - 100] But you know, honestly, the whole review
[100 - 104] with all the details is on our website, www.americastestkitchen.com.
[104 - 106] And you know, I was out there back there
[106 - 109] grilling stuff for days, and there's lots of details
[109 - 111] that we couldn't get into in this video,
[111 - 114] but you know, you have the winner. It's great.
[114 - 116] There are some other options that are pretty good.
[116 - 118] You can read the full review on our website.
[118 - 120] Someone else asked about electric grills.
[120 - 122] Are we going to review them?
[122 - 125] Right now, they're not in our plans, but you know,
[125 - 127] we never rule anything out, and probably eventually,
[127 - 129] we will get to electric grills.
[129 - 131] There's so many things in the kitchen, as you know,
[131 - 132] that we have to review.
[132 - 134] Another great question. Could a YETI cooler
[134 - 139] be a good backup for a fridge or a freezer in power outages? Yes.
[139 - 141] Yeah. It's a great extra use for them.
[141 - 144] We put all kinds of food in there, and put in the ice.
[144 - 147] And everything stayed cold for days and days.
[147 - 151] We were really impressed by how nicely it kept everything.
[151 - 153] It's not your grandfather's cooler.
[153 - 154] This thing really works.
[154 - 155] We've done that.
[155 - 158] You know, sometimes you know there's a planned power outage.
[158 - 158] I don't know about you,
[158 - 161] but our power company's like, you know, "Here in July,"
[161 - 163] or whatever, "we're gonna shut your power off."
[163 - 166] (laughs) You're like, "Oh, great. I just went shopping."
[166 - 167] So yeah, putting some...
[167 - 169] You know, you could put the ice in there
[169 - 170] and put your stuff in there
[170 - 173] and then let them do what they're gonna do.
[173 - 175] And in emergencies, same deal.
[175 - 177] Just grab all your ice. Throw all your stuff in there.
[177 - 181] And it's gonna probably stay safe for a day or two at least,
[181 - 182] and maybe even longer.
[182 - 184] So yeah, great idea. Good tip.
[184 - 186] Thank you for sharing that.
[186 - 187] Okay, so that's it for this time.
[187 - 192] I will see you next time on Gear Heads. (upbeat music)
