[1 - 3] - Hi, this is Lisa from "America's Test Kitchen Gearheads,"
[3 - 5] and I'm here to answer some of the really good questions
[5 - 8] you left on our review of the Always Pan.
[8 - 9] Okay, first one is,
[9 - 11] I was wondering if you had plans to review
[11 - 14] the cast iron Always Pan that can go
[14 - 17] in the oven, or even the perfect pot from the same brand.
[17 - 20] We have reviewed the perfect pot from the same brand,
[20 - 23] and that review's on our website, americastestkitchen.com.
[24 - 26] The cast iron version,
[26 - 27] I don't think we're gonna bother,
[27 - 29] because honestly, the problems
[29 - 30] with the Always Pan are really not
[30 - 35] about the material it's made of, but its shape, its volume,
[35 - 37] and all the other things we talked about in the video.
[37 - 39] I'm not really sure that making it
[39 - 41] of cast iron is really gonna change it.
[41 - 42] It's the same pan.
[43 - 45] We also noticed that they have mini pans now.
[45 - 48] Like a 1.2 quart mini pan.
[48 - 50] And we're just like, no. (laughs)
[50 - 54] So, sorry, we kind of don't think it's the greatest idea,
[54 - 56] as you saw in our video.
[56 - 58] We're not gonna go any further with this unless they do
[58 - 59] something really revolutionary.
[59 - 61] Someone else mentioned that it seems like sometimes,
[61 - 64] we're using induction portable burners,
[64 - 65] and sometimes we use gas ones,
[65 - 67] especially when I was at home,
[67 - 70] and I was reviewing walks on video.
[71 - 72] And they wanna know
[72 - 76] about the portable burners, and what style we recommend.
[76 - 78] We have heard those questions,
[78 - 80] and we are reviewing portable burners
[80 - 82] in various types of fuel.
[82 - 84] In fact, I am gonna be doing that review.
[84 - 87] I've just submitted a proposal for our whole team to review.
[87 - 89] We do that for every story we do.
[89 - 91] We write out a whole proposal how we're gonna test,
[91 - 94] what we said before, what we like, what we think,
[94 - 96] what kind of tests we're gonna do exactly,
[96 - 97] what brands we're including.
[97 - 100] So, that is just been circulated, and when that gets done,
[100 - 102] I'm gonna get started in a few weeks,
[102 - 105] and there will be a future gearheads on our results.
[105 - 107] So, thanks for that idea, and we're gonna do it.
[107 - 110] Someone said we mentioned that the Always Pan
[110 - 113] is made of aluminum, it is, it's cast aluminum.
[113 - 116] But then we're using it on an induction cooktop.
[116 - 118] It's possible because there is a layer
[118 - 121] of induction compatible material attached to the bottom
[121 - 122] of this aluminum pan.
[122 - 124] So, it does work on induction,
[124 - 125] and we neglected to mention that,
[125 - 127] so sorry about that.
[127 - 128] But that's what's going on.
[128 - 130] It is induction compatible.
[130 - 132] And finally, can the Always Pan be used
[132 - 133] on a glass top stove?
[133 - 135] Yeah, of course you can.
[135 - 137] You can basically use almost any kind of cookware
[137 - 138] on a glass top stove.
[138 - 140] We're talking about whether it's induction
[140 - 143] or an electric glass top, where the burners are under
[143 - 146] a heavy layer of ceramic glass.
[147 - 150] That glass is not unbreakable, and it can get scratched.
[150 - 153] So, anything heavy or rough, like a big cast iron pan
[153 - 157] or a Dutch oven, you just wanna lift it up and put it down.
[157 - 159] Don't drag it, don't drop it.
[159 - 161] Be a little more careful handling it.
[161 - 164] But then really, any kind of pan can be used on those
[164 - 166] types of stoves.
[166 - 169] With an electric one, it does matter a lot whether
[169 - 172] the bottom is perfectly flat to get some good contact.
[173 - 175] Yeah, so just, that may be a factor
[175 - 177] if you want to check it out,
[177 - 179] but it will work, it will heat up.
[179 - 180] So, that's it,
[180 - 185] we hope to see you next time on "Gearheads." (upbeat music)
